This Is Good Taste.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I mentioned how much I enjoyed (500) Days Of Summer in a previous post, so I decided to make it the inspiration for my latest collage. Not my best work, but I thought it was worth sharing. The other collages seemed to be well received, so I think I'll continue making them. This one didn't have much fashion, but you can expect more in the future that will.

Catching Up.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Yesterday I tried to cram far too much stuff into my evening, so a few things are overflowing into tonight. Luckily, I didn't get too much homework for tonight, so I'll be able to make time. I wasn't able to fit in painting my nails, so I'll have to do that tonight. (I used so quite a bit in this first paragraph!)

Anyway, what I'm really excited about finally making time to do is catch up on my magazine reading. I have the September Vogue (584 pages), the September Harper's Bazaar (I skimmed this one, but I need to read it a little bit more), the September People Style Watch, and an H&M 'magazine', all sitting on my desk, waiting to be read thoroughly.

I guess it's good that I'm taking my good old time getting to these magazines, because I've started to run out of room to store them. I cannot bring myself to part with a magazine, ever. (A few Novembers ago I did purge my collection of mostly old issues of Teen People, but since then my collection has continued to expand.) I have magazines in a magazine rack, in a giant pile on my floor (they're organized so that they don't look like a mess, they look like they belong on the floor), in a little bin, in a drawer in my desk, and a few hidden away under my bed. My room is pretty much overflowing with magazines.

I caught an episode of Teen Cribs a while ago that inspired me even further to hold on to all my magazines, just as I was considering thinning out my collection. The episode featured a girl who lived with her aunt, and her aunt had kept all of her old fashion magazines from the seventies. I think it would be awesome to be able to share all your old magazines with your future children, and I know I would've loved it if my mom had had a Vogue collection to pass down to me.

You Go Too Fast.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Besides the obvious relaxing I did over the weekend (and the procrastinating, I still need to start my homework!), I continued to tweak the blog's look a little. Thoughts would be much appreciated because over the last few days I've tested out many options.

Yesterday I went out to dinner with my family near the place my brother attends school, by the time dinner was over we were a bit tired, so I ended up holding off on the return I mentioned yesterday, and did it today instead. While at the mall today I stopped in Forever21 and a small beauty store.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I got two OPI nail polishes, Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow and Lincoln Park At Midnight. (Pictured in that order.) The pictures and those long nails do not belong to me, they're courtesy of google images. I think I'll probably save these colors for fall, or at least for a few weeks. I want to rock the fun colors while I can still call it summer.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Those are a few of my Forever21 purchases. The shirt was only $4.90! I also got a pair of red rose earrings and a set of silver bracelets that they didn't have on the website.

I also expanded my scarf collection this weekend. My parents bought my two scarves, one is bright green and the other is a soft grey ombre. Over the summer I started to like scarves more and more, the only issue is I'm not exactly sure how or where to store them!

How did you spend your weekends, and what do you still need to cram in?
Besides what I mentioned I also watched Seventeen Again (cute) and practiced driving. That past few times we practiced it was mostly driving in parking lots or along small roads, but today my mom braved it and let me drive home.

I'd rather now think about what I still have left to do. I need to do my homework (blah), make my bed (it is the nicest thing ever to get into a comfy, well made bed at the end of the day), straighten my hair, and paint my nails. Today's color will probably be blue. I'll try to get pictures of whatever I end up choosing.

I'd also like to try and catch the latest episode of Design Star, and if I'm really lucky, finally get around to reading the September Vogue. I should really start on all this! It is time to get a little caffeine into my system.

What Would You Like To See?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've made a few changes to the blog recently and I'd like to keep improving it. The best way for me to make sure I keep up with blogging during the hectic school year (especially during this first semester) is to keep blogging an enjoyable thing. And it'll be the most enjoyable for me when I know other people enjoy it.

So, what would you all like to see more of? Outfit posts, quotes, 'Things I Can't Live Without This Week', collages, beauty product reviews/recommendations, inspiration posts, playlists, etc.

Those are just a few examples of things I could post about, if there is anything else you had in mind, that works too. Just leave me a comment with what you had in mind.

In the mean time, here is another fun little collage. (I'm a big Nicole Richie fan.)

Today I'm going to Victoria Secret to exchange something, and I might be able to fit a little shopping in. Either way, this weekend will involve a lot of relaxing.

Favorite Day Of The Week.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I haven't been this happy for Friday to come in a long time. I definitely will make the most of my weekend. And I'll do my best not to procrastinate and save all my homework for Sunday night.

I'm giving myself a break for Friday and spending the night watching episodes of Veronica Mars. If you aren't yet a fan of this great show (Kevin Smith, Stephen King, and Joss Whedon are all fans), you should be. I suggest going here and starting with season one.

My weekend playlist? Love Drunk by Boys Like Girls and Obsessed by Miley Cyrus. You should seriously check out the Miley song, it isn't the normal Disney stuff.

Be Prepared.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In the morning when I wake up for school I like to have just enough time to make it to the bus stop on time. Not a minute extra. This way I'm able to get as much sleep as possible.

I've found over the past few years that I don't end up dressed my best when I try to pull something together in the morning. I'm groggy and grumpy, which is not good for outfit picking. Instead, I take a few minutes (on average I'd say it takes five minute) and figure out what I'll wear the night before. At night I'm able to really consider what shoes would work best as far as practicality (yeah right) and fashion go, and what wash of denim would look best with my cardigan, or whatever important choices must be made.

Freshman year I waited til the morning to decide on what to wear, and Sophomore year I planned my outfits the night before every night. Occasionally I'd have a change of heart in the morning, but overall I'd say Sophomore year was much more successful in that sense. I wasn't wasting time standing in front of my closet like a dimwit, and all (or most of) my outfits looked like thought had gone into them.

Tonight I've got my outfit planned early (black american apparel skirt, white v-neck, grey Forever21 sandals, purple Forever21 scarf, silver bracelets and hoop earrings) because I have much to do before collapsing into my bed. I've got to finish my homework (blah), dry and straighten my hair, tidy my room, and catch Toddlers and Tiaras (my latest guilty pleasure).

Do you plan outfits in advance?

I Didn't Forget.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The first day of school was today and I am totally exhausted.

This year seems like it'll be tough (especially the first semester) but I'll do my best to keep up with blogging.

I wore the cutest and most practical outfit I could find. A floral dress, black jelly gladiator sandals, and a ton of silver bracelets.

I'll have a good post tomorrow. In the mean time just aw at the sleeping kitty. It's time for me to tidy my room and then crash.

Sing To Me.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Just because, my back to school playlist:
Rescue You - Jake Epstein
Use Somebody (cover) - Tyler Hilton
She's Got You High - Mumm-ra
You Make My Dreams Come True - Hall and Oates
Heartbeats - Scouting For Girls
Crash My Party - Cassie Steele
Beautiful Disaster - Jon McLaughlin

Nothing that is actually about going back to school, but it is the random list of songs I'm listening to. (And YES, I did include two songs from the Degrassi Goes Hollywood soundtrack. Shamelessly!)

Paint Me Out Of This.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The day before school I traditionally do lots of superficial pampering and the like. On the top of my to-do list is to get a manicure and pedicure. My current nail obsession is obnoxiously bright colors, that are super bright, but aren't quite neon. Despite this I think I'm probably going to do something light on my fingers, that way when it starts to chip it won't be as noticeable. But for my toes, I'm undecided. Something bright? Something dark? I'll get back to you.

Top It Off.

I know some people like to wear bold outfits, but I'm more of a "you make the outfit with what accessories you wear" type person. Fittingly, I have accessories everywhere. Hanging on handles and door knobs in my room, in a drawer in my dresser, multiple jewelry boxes, two necklace holders (shaped like cute mannequins in pretty gowns), an antique plate, etc. etc.

This school year I chose not to buy tons of new pieces of clothing like I usually do. I focused on accessories that I could see really making an outfit, and a few select pieces of clothing that would get a lot of wear.

My favorite accessories are fun and cutesy or dramatic and interesting. The jewelry does break easily, but I love going to Forever21 because of all the (cheap) fun jewelry stationed in the store. I bought a few new favorites yesterday; this necklace, this necklace, and this ring.

Oh, and just because, here is the song I'm currently listening to:

PS: I would really like a Dior ring or a Chanel watch. If Santa can only manage the Dior ring, that is okay. My $20 Forever21 watch has held up surprisingly well, and I don't really even use it for telling time.

Don't Make Me Go.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I did my back to school shopping today and I'm going to have to say it was very successful.

The first store I visited was H&M where I got a floral dress, a cropped leather jacket, a white top with a giant bow, and a mini lint roller for my purse.

At Bath and Body Works I got a new thing of White Citrus hand sanitizer (such a good scent). Then I went to Victoria Secret and got two new bras. They had a special going on where the PINK bras were two for $32. I got a black one and a nude one.

Next I went to ForLove21, the sister store of Forever21. I got two necklaces and a neon yellow flower ring. I also got a bright fuschia/purple scarf.

My next stop was Nordstrom where I got the an awesome pair of boots. They're Steve Madden and they're perfect. I can't wait til fall when I'll be wearing them all the time. (And as always, the picture doesn't even do them justice!)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After my boot purchase (which I had to lug around the mall for the rest of my trip, but it was worth it), I went to MAC where I got a new concealer. I've never used a concealer from there, but it seems like it'll be good. It's the kind in the tube with the sponge applicator if you're wondering.

Then I went to Sephora, my favorite place to shop. I got Buxom lash mascara, which I had gotten a sample of before and finally took the dive and bought a full tube. I also got a new polish, it's a really bright blue color that will be lots of fun. I had 100 Beauty Insider points, so I was able to get a free sample. I chose this stuff that said it was a foundation primer and an acne treatment, I'll report back if I love it.

And lastly I went to American Eagle where I bought new underwear (exciting) and a cute floral scarf. I don't shop there often, but they had a surprisingly cute selection of scarves for a fair price.

What was your last purchase?

Doesn't Alexa Chung seem like she would be a ton of fun? I was never a fan of TRL, but on the days I manage to wake up in time, I love to watch her show. She has a different personality than most TV show hosts, she's very relaxed and although funny, it isn't in an over the top type of way.

I posted about her (and the show) once before, but when I came across these photos I couldn't resist.

Anyway, besides totally loving Alexa (and this photoshoot), my dad has just consisted of me being super lazy. The school count down is really getting close to the end, so soon I'll be spending my days looking presentable. Until then, I think I'll continue to lounge around in hoodies I stole from my brother, sporty shorts, and oversized tank tops. I might not look so swell, but comfy is most definitely the best way to spend your summer! Plus, I might as well save all the brilliant (well, I'm at least hopeful) outfits for when a ton of people will actually be seeing me.

On that note, I still am not sure what I'll wear to school on the first day. I haven't done much back to school shopping this year (very out of the ordinary for me), but this weekend I'll probably buy at least one cute thing to wear. I do have a small wish list, but I think I'm going to buy things gradually throughout the year.

What last minute purchases do you need to make?

I need to buy a nude bra, a pair of skinny jeans, black flats, a bunch of makeup, and a few new dresses. I'd also really like a pair of boots, but I might just wait til the fall to buy those. Oh, and I'm also hoping to refresh my nail polish collection with a few new shades.

Take A Walk.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicProject Runway's new season premieres on Lifetime tonight at 10. Are you excited? I'll be watching, and this will be the first year that I won't have to wait til the next day and watch the episodes online.

PS, I'm aware this is a lame post. I'll have something good for tomorrow! I promise.

Don't Make Me Go.

Today marks a week until school starts, and I've started to consider what fierce outfit I'd like to start the year off with. I like to start school off on a good note, and the best way to do that is to feel absolutely fabulous in what you're wearing.

Make Up Your Mind.

I have a very on an off again relationship with Polyvore, I use it religiously for a few weeks or months and then stop completely, until it creeps into my mind a few months later. As you could probably guess, I'm currently at an 'on' part in my polyvore relationship. So, here are a few of my latest creations.

Four Seasons And I Get You.

I was planning on doing a post about inspiration today, but there was something else I wanted to talk about while it was fresh in my mind.

I went to see (500) Days Of Summer tonight and was very pleased. The movie was good and it was awesome when I realized that the main character was the boy from 3rd Rock From The Sun.

It was quite different from the last movie I watched; Degrassi Goes Hollywood (which I also enjoyed, for what it was anyway).

Another thing I liked about the movie was the soundtrack, there was even a cute dance number in the movie.

What was the last good movie you saw? And has anyone seen Bandslam? A movie with Lisa Kudrow is hard for me to pass up.

Exciting Stuff.

The start of school is fast approaching, and the first thing on my list of preparations was a back to school haircut. I woke up late today and rushed to get ready to make it to my hair appointment. It could probably use to be straightened, but I think it turned out pretty cute. I took a picture of Nicole Richie circa The Simple Life season 4 as my inspiration for my bangs. The cut is a little similar too, but it looks a lot different on me.

Afterwards I practiced driving a little (still getting a hang of it), and went to a little mall. I got a striped cardigan in navy (above), a grey tank top, and a cute orange card holder/wallet to store my permit, school ID, and maybe a few dollars in. I have a lot of bulky wallets, but this is nice and small and will be perfect for my school bag.

Now it is time to clean my room, my least favorite task, despite how satisfying it can be.

Tomorrow...an inspiration post?

Coco Oh No No.

This morning I woke up to see that Perez Hilton, famed gossip blogger, had launched his own fashion blog. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely addicted to his website and celebrity gossip in general. But, he isn't exactly someone whose commentary on fashion I was dying to know.

He boasts in a new interview that his new blog will eventually have more readers than Vogue. Personally, I don't see it happening. His ventures outside of his gossip blog so far haven't seemed all that successful. (Maybe I'm mistaken.) Expanding your empire isn't quite the same if you have one project going strong and a few other fledgling ones.

You should definitely check out the blog to form your own opinions, and of course let me know what you think. After viewing the blog it was pretty much what could be expected. It is written exactly like his gossip blog, and it doesn't exactly work for fashion (to me anyway). Titles like "Kate Moss Turns On The Granny Seks..." don't suggest respectable fashion blog.

Thoughts?

Keep Your Dog Away.

I mostly just lazed around today, but in the afternoon I went for a manicure with my mom. I didn't have a color in mind when I went in, but I quickly found and decided on My Chihuahua Bites! The color is a shimmer free, glossy shade that is extremely bright and fun. None of the images I found through google truly resembled the shade. When I tried to take a photo of my nails in the photobooth program on my computer, my nails ended up looking more orange. In reality the color is a great gross between reddish pink and coral. It's definitely one of those things you've just got to see in real life, on your nails. Anyway, I'm really happy with the color. There isn't any place nearby where I live that sells OPI polishes, but I might have to make a point to buy this one.

You Kill Me.

If anything could manage to make me less skeptical about black lips, it would be this.

Didn't Want To Do This To You.

I try not to talk about celebrity style too often because it has been done so often, and I know I already did it a little yesterday, but that isn't exactly what this post is. Kristen Bell is in fact styled by the same woman responsible for Rachel Bilson's red carpet looks, so its obvious I'd like her style. But besides that, Kristen is one of my favorite celebrities. I first caught on to her when I became an avid fan of her series Veronica Mars, and I've followed her since them. (I even sat through many unbearable episodes of Heroes.) She comes off as very down to earth, and always comes off as being very funny, which is why if I had the chance to be friends with any celebrity, I'd choose her. Who would you choose, and why?

Choo-Choo Choose You.

The Teen Choice Awards air tonight, but the results have already been released. Selena Gomez won for her red carpet style, immediately leading to me googling 'Selena Gomez red carpet'. Do you think this was a deserved award? I think there are clearly people more deserving of the award, but based on all the tweens voting, the results make sense. And to give her some credit, she is a lot better dressed than some other teen sensations. Her style doesn't exactly push the boundaries, but this green dress is pretty cute, right?

And I think I actually am quite fond of this polka-dotted creation.

In other Teen Choice Awards news, Leighton Meester won for choice actress on a drama. I was happy she won, and I definitely think she was more deserving compared to Blake Lively (also nominated). Blake seems to get a lot more attention, but I prefer Leightion (and Blair). What do you think about Leighton vs. Blake?

Quote Me To Me.

I had an obligation today so most of my Saturday was wasted. Now, I am just watching Speak (it has been quite a while since I first saw the movie) on Lifetime and relaxing the rest of my day away. Anyway, the point is, my dull day didn't quite inspire a brilliant post about fashion.

So, you'll have to settle for a (brilliant) quote. Thoughts/opinions?

Done, For Now.

After a lot of time spent moving things around, I found a way to make my closet work. It would've been a lot easier if my closet held a closer resemblance to the Teen Vogue fashion closet (to die for), but I think I made the most of my space.

The hardest part was deciding what I really had to have in my room at all times, and what I was willing to store in my brother's closet (he is in college, and when he comes home he doesn't use the closet). Eventually I decided on my swimsuits, sweatshirts, old bedding (stuff that didn't match when I redid my room), shoes I have worn only once or twice, and clothes I couldn't bear to get rid of even though I never wear them, as the things I didn't really need in my own room.

I did have to move some stuff around in my dresser. I folded my jeans a little tighter in my bottom drawer and made room for my tank tops (they used to be in a sterilite drawer in the closet, which took up a lot of space). I also moved my winter pajamas (a lot of big fleece pants and other puffy jammies that take up room) into my brothers closet for the time being. I'm not sure where I'll keep them come winter, but until then it freed up a lot of room.

The thing that inspired all the closet fixing was this shoe rack from Target. I used to have a shoe holder on the back of my room door. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done. I also had a hanging shoe rack inside my closet, which is what inspired the purchase of the new shoe rack in the first place. The old one hung on the bar in my closet and because it took up so much room, I had to really crowd all my clothing. (Hangers were pretty much on top of each other.)

Anyway, once I moved everything around I placed the new shoe rack front and center on the floor of my closet. It worked pretty well and holds a good portion of my shoes, the only issue I had was that perhaps it could hold twenty pairs of baby shoes, but it could only hold sixteen pairs of my shoes. It is advertised as holding twenty pairs, but it wasn't a big deal. I put my boots (which don't fit on the rack) on one side. On the other side is a bag full of flip flops. I don't wear them much for anything other than going to the beach or walking the dogs, so I figured they didn't need to be taking up room on the shoe rack.

There were a few things I kept in my closet but moved around. I cleared off the top shelf and got all my purses out from the milk crate they used to be in. They had been overflowing from that crate for quite a while, and I was worried about them losing their shape. I put all my little clutches and small bags into the purses I don't use very often, and the rest I stuffed with newspaper so that they would keep their shape. Then I lined them up on the top shelf. The shelf didn't come out far enough for a few of the bags, but it offered enough support that they shouldn't fall off.

The only purse I had a problem with was my fringe bag. It's very slouchy, and doesn't stand up on it's own. I was also worried about the fringe getting bent beneath the bag and being messed up forever. After a while I decided to hang it from the little hook within my closet.

Before putting the bag there, the hook was home to my summer scarves (winter ones are stored in my coat closet downstairs). I took them down and placed them in a cute little box.

The only thing which stayed untouched were my belts, which are still on the other hook in my closet (opposite where the fringed bag now hangs).

My clothes got a little more room to breathe, but for the most part they are also the same. I like looking at color coded closets, but I've found that what works the best for me is to organize by type. From left to right my closet is organized like so; cover-ups (beach cover-ups and bath robes), formal dresses, casual dresses, things that used to be dresses but have become too short (I have a surprising number of dresses that fit into this category), skirts, jackets, sweaters, cardigans, long sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, short sleeves, and sleeveless.

**I'm sorry that this post couldn't include pictures at the moment, but I'm having a bit of a camera dilemma. I'm hoping that once it is solved I'll be able to update with lots of photos.**

PS: For being such a tiny closet, there sure is a lot I can say about it!

Today Is The Day.

I'm attempting to rearrange my closet in order to accommodate my new shoe rack. Thus far it isn't going so well. The shoe rack is bigger than I thought it would be, so I took everything out of the bottom of my closet and have been trying to find a way to make it work. Currently my room is full of all the stuff I took out of the closet, which made quite a mess.

I'd like to hope that by the end of the night my bed will be free of shoes, issues of People magazine, sweatshirts I sleep in during the winter, Sterilite containers full of tank tops and sleep shirts, and whatever else I tossed there. I'd also like to home that by the end of the night my closet (and room) look completely immaculate. Heres hoping!

Favorite Five.

I mentioned before switching blogs that I was hoping to blog occasionally about beauty and makeup, along with the typical style and fashion posts. I plan to do a series of "Favorite Five" posts about a few of my favorite products. Todays post is about the lip products I find myself using the most often.

Just a few months ago I had my makeup done at the MAC counter in Nordstrom, the makeup artist introduced me to MAC's lustreglasses. Since then they've become my go-to lip gloss. My favorite thing about them is that instead of having a little sponge tip to apply the gloss with, they have a tiny lip brush. The selection of colors is also great, and I think that the glosses are the perfect consistency (not too sticky). My favorite color is Flusterose, and second to that would be Morning Glory.

Hot pink tends to not be the most wearable color when it comes to makeup, but this 'jelly balm' from HIP makes the bright color totally wearable. It adds just enough pink to your lips, in the most subtle way. The jelly balm also has a nice, sweet smell. It reminds me a bit of cotton candy.

I've mentioned my love for this one before! Rosebud Salve is still among my favorites. If your lips ever feel dry or chapped, this product will get the job done. And of course, the cute packaging doesn't hurt.

I've tried tons and tons of chapsticks in my time. The reason Burt's Bees has become my favorite is because it doesn't contain petroleum. Petroleum can irritate your lips, and if it does, you'll only find yourself needing to apply chapstick more often. Another plus about Burt's Bees is that it a bit minty so that your lips tingle. It is definitely the best of all the ones I've tried, and you won't ever catch me without it in either my pocket, hand, or purse.

Lip Smackers seems to bring up childhood memories for most people, but I'm still in love with their sweet liquid glosses. As far as colorless glosses go, they're definitely my favorite. If I just want a little bit of sheen, I tend to reach for this. The pink lemonade one (my favorite) has a great scent. Besides not being sticky, the scent is really what pushes this gloss to the top for me. The fruity smell makes everything just a bit more fun.
