Impossible Is So Probable.

I want to apologize for being a bad blogger. I haven't forgotten about you guys, I've just been busy and honestly, pretty unmotivated.

I do have lots of exciting stuff coming up, and although that means I still have more work to do, I'm planning to get back into the swing of things as far as blogging goes over Christmas break and then try to keep it up.

I do have a couple ideas of how to keep myself posting. As much as I love my drawn out, text filled posts, sometimes I just can't think of anything worthwhile to share. Which means, that during the weeks when I just can't find the time between sewing and writing Jane Eyre papers, I'll try to make brief posts about different aspects of my day. Either a few shots of project I've recently completed, or a picture of my outfit that day.

As for that exciting stuff I mentioned, I mean I am a senior. It's supposed to be an exciting time in your life! I'm applying to colleges and waiting to hear back. I'm (hopefully) preparing myself to go to school for fashion merchandising and live in New York. Just thinking about it could probably provide me with a million posts.

Of course Christmas is coming up too, which is exciting for everyone. I've only ever thought of "Christmas came so fast this year!" as being something that adults say. Christmas never comes fast, and the school year never flies by. But hey, it really did this year. I can't believe it's here, and I can't wait to wear my ugly Christmas sweater.

And the last exciting thing actually has a lot to do with my lack of posting. I go to a technology center for part of my high school day (and have been since last January,) where I've had to create over twenty outfits. When the fashion program ends in January we're having a fashion show. There has been a ton of work involved, and a bit of a time crunch as well. There is still a lot left to do, but I'm excited to take a ton of pictures when it happens and share them!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm almost to the end of the post, I promise! I didn't want to just leave you with a bunch of text after so long, so here is an outfit picture I took and planned to share with you two weeks ago. I wore this when I was going to buy fabric for a formal wear project. The thought process behind it was as follows: what in my closet isn't wrinkled? And that was that. I also was wearing flat black suede boots, my dark gray Calvin Klein peacoat, and a ring shaped like a panda.

Okay, this is the final portion of this giant mess of text. I plan to be a better blogger, and I'd like to ask just one thing of you guys. Feedback, feedback, feedback. Tell me what you'd like to see more of, tell me what I need to change, ask me questions, anything! You can leave me comments as usual, or I have other contacts (twitter, email, tumblr) on the left.

Entry Level Only.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
My birthday was in the beginning of November, and one of the gifts I received were a nice pair of black onyx and sterling silver earrings. After a little debate I decided that since I haven't been wearing earrings lately, and I really get much more use out of my bracelets, and rings, that I should go ahead and exchange the earrings. Sometimes it seems harsh to exchange a gift, but when you think about it, it's better for everyone that you have something you know you'll actually get use out of.

We've been pretty busy since my birthday, which is why we just got around to going back to the boutique the gift was from. I looked in countless cases of all types of jewelry, admired stone after stone, and tried on ring after ring.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Eventually I decided on two rings that equaled the price of the earrings. The first, is a beautifully dainty sterling silver ring and the second is a stunning garnet ring that I'm thinking will be a nice, timeless piece to have.

In the end, I'm very happy with my choices, and debuted both rings for Thanksgiving. (Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday!)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I know it's been a while as far as posting goes, so I also wanted to include a little life update. My fashion project for over Thanksgiving break was a dress out of duct tape. I didn't want to totally spoil what the dress would look like, but here are the colors of duct tape I ended up picking out! Any guesses? Hint: I'm thinking artsy.

That's it for now, thanks for reading! I'm spending the rest of my day watching Beverly Hills 90210 season four, responding to comments, and cleaning my room. And once I get through that, I also have seeing the new Harry Potter movie on the agenda.

My next project for my fashion program is due on Tuesday, and it's theme is specialty fabrics. We got to choose whichever fabric we wanted and make pretty much whatever we wanted. I chose to make a lace dress. I'm hoping it turns out right because I think the fabric combination I chose is really beautiful! Hopefully pictures will follow!

Which reminds me, I tried to take pictures of the things in my portfolio to share, but I was taking photos of photos and it just didn't turn out well, so I'll have to think of something else.

A Celebration.

Today is my birthday! (Which makes me 17.) I had posted about a few of the things on my wish list earlier in October, so I thought I'd let you know a few of the things I ended up getting.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This year I opted to ask for one big present and then a few random small things. I ended up getting the big gift, which was a Michael Kors watch I've been lusting over for months. When I made my list I mentioned that I was unsure about which size watch to get. Usually I think the bigger the better with watches, but I ended up thinking the smaller one had nicer detailing and the salesperson seemed to agree. I've been checking the time a lot more now, and I really love it!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I got Drive Me Crazy on DVD, which is one of my favorite high school movies, and the fourth season of Beverly Hills, 90210. I'm always trying to add to my DVD collection, I especially love watching television on DVD.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I ended up adding a few things to my list after I shared it with you guys. One of those things was a fleece blanket. I mentioned I thought a cream colored one would be nice, and my mom ended up finding cream fleece sheets instead! They're amazingly comfortable.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I also received a travel mug! I've been wanting a cute one to tote hot chocolate around in for a while now. I'm considering exchanging it for a different pattern, but I do love penguins.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And this is the last thing I took a picture of, my new PEZ dispenser. I love candy, and this Hello Kitty is just too cute.

Put On A New Record.

I'm sad to see that I went from my goal of posting everyday in September, to making six posts in October (including this one.) That definitely wasn't what I wanted.

I do have things to post about, and I don't want to be a broken record and talk about how busy I am. I probably promise to post more often too much, but I'd like to make a 2-3 posts a week promise to myself. I think that's fair! I'll be starting next week, which just so happens to be my birthday week. (My birthday is November 1st.)

I don't want to go on and on, so that's all! See you next week!

Don't Let It Go There.

I am currently trying to get through some of my college applications, but I thought I'd take a moment to blog.

I've been cranking out recommendation forms, transcript requests, applications, and essays. There is still a lot to be done, but I'm definitely starting to feel like college is more 'real' now that things are actually starting to happen.

I have homework I really need to be working on, but I wanted to share my recent college visits with you! Over the weekend I visited two fashion schools in New York; the Fashion Institute of Technology and LIM. I didn't know what to expect, but I ended up liking them both.

Both schools have good internship programs and had different appealing qualities. I liked that FIT's campus was very compact with the dorms and the school buildings all right nearby, whereas LIM's dorms are a subway ride away from the other buildings.

I'm still conflicted about if I'm okay with passing up on a traditional college experience for a fashion school, but then again, I know what I want to do, and where else but New York?

There is lots to think about, and as always I am dreadful with decisions! If anyone goes to one of these schools I'd love to hear more!

Usually Prefer Raspberries.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I usually try to stick to fashion posts but occasionally a little bit of life and technology drift in there. Which is why I figured it would be okay to share my new love with you all!

On Friday, I headed to the Sprint store in hopes of upgrading my phone. I had the LG Rumor for two years, and although I hadn't had many problems with it like I know some people did, I was hoping for something that would allow me to browse the internet a little better.

Originally, I was planning to get a normal messaging phone, and I didn't want to spend more than $50 after rebates. About half way through my time looking around the store we realized that our plan already has the data plan you need for smartphones (I guess my brother's phone uses it.) Which meant I quickly made my way over to the Blackberries.

And that is how I ended up with my new Blackberry Curve 3G. I decided on getting the purple one after a little debate. When I got my old phone I chose white because I thought I might tire of a color after a little while, but I realized eventually I wouldn't have minded a color. And purple is just more fun than the metallic gray option!

So, that about sums it up. I've been loving this phone. If you would like to suggest any free Blackberry applications to me, please do! I'm currently loving the Pandora application. (I know I could use it on the computer, but this is just better.) I'm also a fan of Uber Twitter (follow me.)

Is This Really Happening To Me?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was contemplating what I would post about while I got off topic again during independent study. I considered all the posts I had planned and realized they all involved something I didn't have with me (a project I made, my camera, my room, etc.) Then I realized that it was already the middle of October. It's hard to believe, but that got me thinking that my birthday is coming up (it's in the beginning of November.) Last year around my birthday I posted my wishlist, and I decided I'd keep with the one time tradition and go for it again.

This years wishlist is as follows;
  • Michael Kors Tortoise Shell Watch
  • Vera Bradley All-In-One Wristlet
  • NARS Turkish Delight Lip Gloss
  • Drive Me Crazy DVD
  • Beverly Hills 90210 Season 4
  • OPI Burlesque Collection Polishes

The reason there are two watches in the mini wishlist collage is because I haven't decided which to ask for. They're pretty similar (although there is a $55 price difference) but I think I need to see the size difference in person before a decision can be made.

If I end up receiving the watch that would be my main present, but I wanted to include a few other things on my list just in case.

I usually am not a big fan of Vera Bradley pieces but practicality has gotten the best of me. Something that can go on my wrist and can hold chapstick, my phone, money, and my ID? Perfection! I'll probably end up buying this for myself with birthday money. However, if you do know of something from another brand that would organize and hold the same things as this wristlet, you know I'm open to suggestions.

Everyone should know I'm a lover of the nineties. You say tacky midriff baring tops and I say awesome florals and Doc Martens. Which is why I always feel my birthday is the perfect time to add to my Beverly Hills 90210 collection. And Drive Me Crazy is one of the best high school movies there is.

Since OPI has such a great success with their Alice in Wonderland collection's glitter polishes, they're releasing six new glitter polishes in the holiday collection. I'm a fan of the purple based glitter and the blue based glitter. These are actually set to release the day after my birthday, but maybe an IOU will be in order.

And lastly, who doesn't love lip gloss? Turkish Delight is one of NARS most popular shades and although it wouldn't be a must have, I wouldn't mind knowing I was wearing Kim Kardashian's favorite lip gloss.

Happy Thursday!

PS: If you have a Michael Kors watch I'd love to know which one it is and how you feel about the size!

Greetings and Salutations.

I've come off of my stint of posting everyday by not posting at all.
I guess being busy really has gotten the best of me.

But I do have a few post topics for this week, and I'll be back into a few-posts-a-week mode!

The Mighty.

It's hard to believe it's already October. It hasn't started to get cold here yet, but that hasn't stopped me from breaking out my boots.

The end of October also means it's time for me to look back on my goal. The goal was to make a post on this blog everyday of September, just like I used to do when I first started blogging. I didn't want to get sucked into the habit of not posting when I start getting busy with school. I ended up posting 28/30 days. That gives me a 93%.

I don't have the same goal for October. This month I want to focus on getting a few quality posts up each week, rather than weak posts everyday.

No Biting.

The MAC Venomous Villains collection is being released tomorrow. The collection is based on Disney villains, and has plenty of fun packaging to match the theme. I'm hoping to get Bad Fairy nail polish and the Revenge is Sweet lipglass. Of course I want to know if there is anything you're interested in getting!

What's Proper and Right.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've decided that the best way to spend my independent study is to take a little time to blog. I have a feeling I'll end up going through the independent study work pretty quickly, and really, what could be more important than blogging?

Which brings me to my point. This post is brought to you from the foods lab in school where I have my independent study (with the clothing teacher.) Instead of focusing on marketing a shoe like I should be (although, I technically assigned myself that task), I'm thinking about blogging.

I decided I'd kill two birds with one stone. I'd get a blog post done and work on something I'll eventually need to do anyway. One of my fashion projects in the fast approaching future is outerwear. I have my (very simple) pattern already picked out, but I've still got fabric choices to make so I figured it was a swell (nice word) time to create my inspiration board. Of course I drew plenty of inspiration from Burberry. They really do have the greatest coats! I've also recently found a love for fur coats, so I had to throw that in there. I don't own any fur, but there is something about them that has definitely caused me to try a few on recently.

In other news, I could use a nap! Adieu, 16 minutes left before school lets out. Then I'll be in my car, rocking out to the Lizzie McGuire soundtrack and contemplating sleep and Hamlet. Very interrelated things.

Value and Worth.

It takes a lot out of me trying to make up for massive procrastination, but I think I made it through the day. I successfully took a test on material I put off for too long, and I finished my business wear muslins. Although as I was about to go to sleep I realized one of the pieces needed to be lined. I thought it was just for the final. Oops.

I'm going to spend this week catching up on everything. Homework, magazine reading (there is a crazy pile of magazines waiting for me), room cleaning, etc. And then once that is done I'll be able to put more time into my blogging. I figure it's better to devote a week or so on catching up instead of being in constant panic all year when things get too hard.

Plus, I keep forgetting about college applications. I really need to get on them! I know I've got to get to essay writing now that I now where I want to apply.

Swamped.

This week is another really busy one. I don't know how well I am going to manage, but I really want to find time to do a few proper posts and respond to comments. Hopefully I'll work sometime out.

Tonight though, you're out of luck because I doubt I'm going to make a dent in this homework.

I spent a great afternoon/night at the mall (and ended up only buying one thing, Rosebud Salve in a tube) which means I'll need to spend the whole of tomorrow doing homework. So much homework!

Originally I had convinced my friends to be the girls from Beverly Hills, 90210 but it seems those plans have been dropped which means to back to the drawing board! I'm on the hunt for good ideas.

Fashion and Life.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is going to be one of many busy weeks but there are two things helping me get through it. A new episode of Gossip Girl, and the fact that I now have a car in my possession. I got my license a little over a week ago, and my mom has been looking for a new car so that her old one could be passed along to me. And it has finally happened! I see a trip to Jo-Anns and a cherry ICEE in my future.

Dash My Way.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This week the project I have due for class is to make four accessories. I didn't want to go out and spend a ton on this one, so I dug through my fabric left over from past projects and found plenty of good options. I'm definitely going to use one of the florals for a cute bow headband.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I also found this pattern stowed away with ones I haven't used yet and/or managed to salvage the pieces to. I could probably manage making a clutch without the pattern, but this one shows you how to make a tassle! I love tassles. I think they're so cute and fun.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
For my third accessory I thought I'd try to replicate the handbag charm I saw on PS I Made This. I don't think mine turned out nearly as awesome, but it was worth a shot.

And I'm still deciding on a forth accessory. I've got a headband, keychain/handbag charm, and a clutch so far. I'm thinking maybe a coin purse will be the fourth. Thoughts?

Method To The Madness.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There aren't a ton of things in life that I have a real interest in. I never loved any sports (although I've tried ballet, soccer, cheer, and gymnastics) and I never had much of a hobby. But if there is one way for me to determine if I have a real interest in something, it's how long I'm willing to talk someone's ear off about it for. There are three things I think I could talk about endlessly. Fashion, makeup, and television. As much as I'm always embarrassed to admit it I have an unhealthy love of television and a deep appreciation for a good teen drama. But anyway, this is about the other interest. Makeup.

I've known for a long time that fashion is right for me, but that doesn't mean I don't love makeup. I love buying it, putting it on, everything. And so I thought it was only right to share a few of my current favorites. At first it was only going to be about lipsticks I'm loving, but then I wanted to throw in something extra.

So, here goes.

I think Rimmel (they're the two purple ones in the photo) makes some of the best drugstore lipsticks out there. There isn't a huge color selection but the consistency is great and I've been reaching for these a lot lately. The ones I've been wearing a lot are the Moisture Renew lipsticks in Summer Angel and in Fancy.

I also love my MAC lipsticks. My current favorites are Lovelorn, High Strung, and Cute-ster. Cute-ster is from the Hello Kitty collection from a few years ago but I was able to pick it up over the summer at a Cosmetics Company Outlet. Lovelorn and High Strung are both part of the permanent collection though. I just bought High Strung recently and think it'll be one of my favorite fall lipsticks.

I only have one Flirt lipstick (in the plain black packaging), but I love it. Flirt is a brand that everyone might not know about, so I'm extra excited to share about this one. Flirt is a makeup brand sold at Kohl's stores and their Chickstick lipsticks are great. They're pretty sheer, but mine is in the color Ice Breaker and is a nice pink to just make your lips a tiny bit prettier.

The last lipstick I adore right now is my lipstick from Urban Decay. The one I have is in Peroxide and it's the perfect shade. It's pretty similar to my lip color, just more awesome. I've been loving all of my Urban Decay products lately and this one is no exception! Plus, it has an awesomely unique lipstick packaging.

That's it for lipsticks but I just had to include my favorite glosses of the moment. I've been adoring the Revlon Super Lustrous glosses. I have them in Peach Petal, Pink Whisper, and Pink Pursuit and I love them all. I've probably been wearing Pink Whisper the most, but Pink Pursuit is a nice, slightly darker pink for fall. These are definitely my favorite drugstore buy of the moment. I've been reaching for them a lot more than any of my other glosses.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've shown snippets of my quilt in the background of different pictures before, so I thought I'd go ahead and provide a more complete photo. This is the quilt I made as one of my last projects at the end of the last school year. I didn't go into making it thinking I'd want to use it in my room, but I've actually ended up loving having it.

As Quick As It Begun.

I want to sleep, but luckily just before I went to shut off the lights I remembered my blogging promise!

Promising good posts over the weekend, I have a few possibilities up my sleeve.

PS: I was re-watching old episodes of The Rachel Zoe Project today, and nothing could make me love Rachel Zoe more than the fact that her husband bought her the same Porsche as Dylan McKay because of her love of Beverly Hills, 90210.

I didn't find Kanye's or Taylor's VMA performances this year particularly riveting, but I'm loving this mash-up of the two!

Check In.

I'm just stopping in to keep up with the daily posting!
Today was a fabulous day off.

I babysat in the morning as planned and then went for a late lunch with a friend. Then we spent the afternoon trying on bad dresses and having fun.

It was a good way to relax, even better than, dare I say it, watching television all day.

Plus, I even ended up still having time to do my latest sewing project. Now, the only thing plaguing my mind is how I'm going to be able to transform the not-so-great fabric provided for this one. Green polyester just isn't my forte.

What Dreams Are Made Of.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
In years past a day without school meant one thing, relaxation. I'd spend the day sleeping in and catching up on good old daytime television. Well, times have changed. I have a day off tomorrow, and instead of spending my day indulging on old episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch I'll be doing the unpredictable, being productive.

I'm babysitting in the morning (a little money never hurts) and then I'm trying to work something out to meet up with a friend in the early afternoon. The rest of my day will be devoted to making the muslin for my next fashion project. This year it's one thing due in school after another, which means taking a day off from school to merely relax practically impossible.

In other news, I love getting the opinions of people reading this blog. I'm always open to hearing when people have ideas of what they'd like to see more (or less) of. I've been thinking about starting taking photos of my outfits to share here from time to time. You can let me know your thoughts on that idea, and then share whatever else you're interested in seeing! Thank you!

Girls Do What They Want.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
There are certain things you never want to be caught without. Your phone, your ID, etc. And then there are other things that you constantly seem to be without when you need them. As a fan of being well prepared, I try to limit those situations as much as possible.

The best way I've found to do just that is to have a small-ish makeup bag stuffed to the brim with simple but ever so helpful items. That way I can toss the makeup bag into my purse, school bag, suitcase, anything.

Here are my personal must-haves:
1. Nail File- Everyone can make jokes about the horror of a nail breaking, but the feeling of the jagged edge left behind by a broken nail is the worst.
2. Rub Relief- One of the common traumatic events I find myself stuck in is having a pair of adorable shoes (usually flats) that rub my heels raw. This product promises to fix that, one swipe and no more terrible blisters. (Rub Relief is made by Dr. Scholl's.)
3. Burt's Bees Lip Balm- I am never, and I mean never caught without my Burt's Bees. But just in case, you know how easy these things are to lose, a backup is always a nice bit of security.
4. Colgate Wisp- These toothbrushes for on the go are perfect for an after lunch breath freshening, or even a early morning brushing. Those of us who are a little forgetful might remember a time where they've run out of the house in the morning only to realize their toothbrush had remained untouched. (Ew, but true.)
5. Bandaids- These can go along with the uncomfortable shoes/blisters thing, but I've found they come in handy on many accounts. As someone working with needles and pins a lot of the time, you definitely get your fair share of pricks.
6. Deodorant- Whether it's for a little touch-up after being in the sun, or another case of being forgetful, I've definitely been thankful to have this in the past. A mini from the travel section at a drugstore is perfect.
7. Lipgloss- No everyone considers lipgloss as much of a must-have as I do, but I always like to apply a little over my lip balm to finish everything off. A nice pink is a good choice when it comes to color, something on the sheer side with a bit of shimmer. I'll usually bring whichever lipgloss I put on in the morning with me, but sometimes things are left behind in the haste of getting ready, and this is another backup I can be happy to have.
8. Tampons- Well, I couldn't leave it out. It felt wrong. Everyone has been in that situation.
9. Hair Tie and Bobby Pins- Face it, there are sometimes you just can't stand to have your hair hanging in your face. And sometimes there is that one piece of hair that just won't stay in it's designated place. I find I often prefer to be able to pull my hair back when I really need to focus. And as a girl with a lot of frizz and unmanageable pieces, bobby pins are a lifesaver.
10. Advil- I don't take medicine very often, but there are those occasional times where unbearable cramps or a dreadful headache creeps up on me, and I find I'm always thankful to have Advil near by. When you're dealing with a bad headache or another pain, it's enough to leave you unable to focus and get anything done. That's why I find it's usually better to take care of it early on rather than trying to wait it out. I waste enough time when I'm not in pain, I need to value the time I have left.

Importance Is Trivial.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
I made two important purchases today (and a few less important ones.)

I bought a pattern for my next project in school. I'm thinking I'll make view C, but then again I like the ruffle on B.

And then I got a cup from Bed Bath and Beyond. It looks like a clear disposable cup but is actually reusable. I think it's a cute idea and wanted a cute cup to call my own. I'm always jealous of people with cute cups. In the morning at school I see the girls with their cute coffee cups (before they're forced to toss it or hide it) and I can't help but be jealous. But as a non-coffee drinker I wanted a different cute option. And you don't know how many places only had water bottles for sale! Oh, and mine isn't brown, that was just the only color on the website. The details on mine are light pink.

Now, it's almost 11 and I've been putting off this room cleaning thing for hours, so I guess I'll get it over with and then I'm going to watch either Sex and the City on DVD or try to find Drive Me Crazy online.

I'll do a better post tomorrow. Something more normally blog-like.

PS: I'm creating a fun driving playlist to listen to in the car, any suggestions?

Copper Colored Ponies.

Something Special.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic
Something life changing occurred today! I now possess a license to drive. I spent two hours at the MVA, but it was worth it.

I did a little solo driving (it was great) but once I got home and basked in my excitement, I did have a dress to sew. I just have the hem left now!

Real posts over the weekend, and I'll also be doing all my replying to comments then!

The Start.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I have my first fashion project of the year due on Friday. We dyed fabric in class and have to make something out of it. We didn't dye the fabric in class until Tuesday, and today we started planning our fashion show. Tomorrow we don't have school, which means I'll be devoting my day off to sewing. I tried to pick a simple pattern since I haven't sewn much since last school year. Hopefully all goes well and pictures will follow! Scratch that, hopefully I even finish!

I decided a pretty picture would tide you over. Here is the rest of the editorial!

We Meet Again.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is my first night of late night, procrastination induced homework since school has started. (Yes, even with the three day weekend.)

I'm currently working on making a plan for the fashion show in January. Everyone in the class has to create a sketch and a write up to go with it showing the theme they want. Most of the class has discussed the theme already though so it sounds like it'll end up being Paris themed. It probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but no doubt that Paris will be a plenty fabulous theme!

Now, it's time to get the ideas going maybe I'll even end up with something not so terrible on the piece of paper in front of me!

To The Fullest.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This weekend at Nordstrom they were offering free makeovers at the MAC counter in order to promote the new collection, Fabulous Felines. I told myself no more eyeshadow, and ended up leaving with two things. I bought the mineralized blush in Pet Me which is from the collection. It's a really pretty pink, and I'm all about a nice pink flush for the cheeks. And then I wanted the lipstick they used on me, which was called Pet Me Please but it turned out they didn't have any left at the counter or store. I ended up buying a similar lipstick that was just a little more pink called High Strung, which wasn't part of the new collection. It reminds me of my lip color, just a little more enhanced and a little bit frosty. When I'm looking for a lipstick, I usually go for something not too far off from my natural color but just something with slightly more oomph.

In other news, I've been reliving my childhood via television lately. I've been watching old episodes of As Told By Ginger on youtube, and you know what, it's still good! It isn't the best thing I've ever watched, but it's enough to keep me interested. And sometimes when you've got a lot on your plate, that's all you want out of a little entertainment, and the nostalgia doesn't hurt. I also appreciate that the characters in the show change their clothes when a new day starts unlike on most animated series, and they also wear their clothes more than once, unlike on sitcoms.

Make any exciting purchases? Re-watched any old favorites?

School has been in session for less than a week and I'm already so glad to have a three day weekend. Do you guys have any exciting Labor Day weekend plans?

I have a family thing for Labor Day and I'm also debating about dying my hair this weekend.

I'm trying to get to sleep early today, so that's all!

Remember to share your plans with me and wear lots of white.

No Need For A Tease.

Meet my new love! I've been lusting after the Urban Decay Naked palette for months now, as have many others. And I've finally gotten my hands on it! I was lucky enough to put my name on a waiting list on Sunday (yes, just this past Sunday) and when I came home today (Wednesday) I had a call saying that there was one on hold for me.

Of course, I had to pick it up as soon as possible and now it's finally in my possession. I'm a fan of every Urban Decay product I've had the chance to try, and I use my Urban Decay Ammo palette all the time. So, I know this will become a staple in my makeup collection. I already love it. I haven't played around with it yet because I've been savoring it's beauty but if you're looking for a review I am confident in saying that it's perfect. I've used Urban Decay shadows, liners, and of course there primer before (which is included but not pictured,) and I've loved all of them. The colors are perfect. The only way this palette really isn't for you is if you solely wear bright colors, or you hate shimmer. There are two matte shades, but the rest have plenty of shimmer. It's also a fabulous deal. You get twelve full sized shadows ($17 a piece) for $44 plus you're getting a mini primer potion and the double-ended liner. It's a great deal, full of great product. If you want to see swatches or read a more in depth review or value breakdown, I suggest Temptalia.

Made any exciting purchases lately?

The Last Of Many.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Today was my first day of senior year. The day went pretty well, I was spared from any terribly awkward moments, but because of how much "inspirational" stuff they fill the first day with, the schedule was off and I only really went to one of my classes. Even though the day was fairly easy and nothing like school will be once things get going, it's still tiring switching from a summer schedule to a school schedule.

So, it would be much easier to come home and collapse on my bed, but over time I've learned that in the long run it really is better for me to make sure that every night I tidy my room up just a little. Especially once I'm in school, I want my room to be a nice, serene place, not one filled with clutter and mess. I do consider myself an organized person, and I like everything to be nice and neat. However, there was a time where I was extremely messy and never had a clean room. I'm not exactly like that anymore, but I do have a great talent for making messes. Just getting ready in the morning can make my room a disaster.

But I find that not only is it easier to do a little tidying at the end of each day rather than a big cleaning occasionally, but that I really do feel happier in a room that's organized. But I'm a person who likes to feel prepared, and knowing everything is in it's place is comforting. I'm sure it's different for everyone, but let me know how you prefer to handle the task of cleaning and keeping things organized.

(I don't know how successful of a post this was, but I'm tired and had a little debate with myself about whether I should relax or take the few minutes to put everything in it's rightful place. When I ended up making everything nice and neat I realized how glad I was with my choice and thought I'd share my sort of organization and tidying philosophy. Something more fashion related tomorrow!)

And How Nice It Was.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Today is my final day before school starts again tomorrow, which means trying to power through a little summer reading and a lot of nerves.

Despite the nerves/dread, there is a little excitement thrown in there. It's hard to believe that I'll be a senior. On one hand I feel so ready to be done with high school and ready to start the future, but on the other hand, it's really just hard for me to believe I'm not just starting high school. It feels like brother just graduated high school (and we're 4 years apart.) I think part of it comes from all my beloved teen drama television shows and high school chick flicks. I saw Mean Girls in the movie theaters with my mom when I was in 6th grade. The characters in Mean Girls were juniors, and of course they seemed so very old at the time.

That doesn't mean I'm one of those people who never wants high school to end though. I definitely am not. I'm excited for the college process to start (although I could do without those essays and deadlines) and I can't wait to start making my college visits. (I'm planning a few for October and November.)

With all the pressure and excitement of this being senior year, I know people who went two different routes for choosing their classes. The first type chose their hardest classes yet and packed their schedules full of every AP class they could fit. (They're the friends who will be calling me every night to complain about work loads.) The other type chose the easiest classes they could find. Their schedules are most likely full of different gym classes. I didn't want to do either. I tried my best to choose classes that would actually help me in life at some point and were actually geared towards what I want to do with my life. My first semester is as follows:
Mod 1-3: Fashion Careers and Textiles
Mod 4A: AP Literature
Mod 4B: Fashion Independent Study

The majority of my day is taken up by being part of a separate fashion program. I took the first half of the program last year, and now I'm taking the second half. The independent study was not my first choice (Psychology was) but after a last minute schedule change it was really all the would fit in that part of my schedule. We haven't exactly chosen what I'll be doing in there, but I should know by Wednesday, and I'll be sure to detail it further.

In other news, I'm coping with my nerves by planning everything out. I think I have my first day of school dress picked out, now I'm just trying to decide on a cardigan color and jewelry choices. Maybe I'll have an outfit post for tomorrow!

PS, I have this strong urge to dye my hair. Maybe next weekend?

Do It All Again.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
School starts again next Tuesday, the 31st of August. I have plenty of beginning of the school year nerves, and a little bit of excitement. But this is about something else. Once school starts I'll become increasingly busy and considering this is my senior year I can only assume it'll be even worse than usual. But I don't want my posting to slowly decrease once school starts.

Last year when I started the blog I blogged at least once a day for the first few months of blogging. However, once school started their was a noticeable drop in my posting. So, for the month of September I'm going to attempt to make a blog post every day. I don't know if I'll last longer than that or not, but for September at the very least, I'll try.

Every post might not be a work of genius but I'll be trying to put something up at the very least. I realize blogs are a little harder to keep up with when they're updating everyday and you can't just check back occasionally, so maybe it would be helpful to follow this blog. You can do it through blogger, bloglovin', or my new favorite, google reader. I'm also prone to announcing blog updates on my twitter.

And of course I have a few relevant questions for all of you...
  1. Are you heading back to school soon, or have you already?
  2. Do you have any classes you're excited to take?
  3. Do you have any blogging goals set for yourself?
  4. Or do you have any other goals for yourself since a new school year is a great fresh start?
Let me know your answers! You know my goal (I'd also like to be more outgoing), and the class I'm most excited for is the second part of my fashion and textiles program which I talked about last school year.

Let Your Colors Burst.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've been home for a few days now (my plane got in Saturday night), but I guess I'm just not getting around to blogging. I imagined that after a week long vacation I'd have tons of new topics to talk about, but it appears that isn't the case!

I can sum most of the vacation up with just a few key notes.
  • At the McDonald's in Maine they sell the McLobster Roll.
  • There was an awesome McDonald's that was inside an old house. (I didn't eat there, or try the McLobster Roll, just admired.)
  • I proved that I do not like lobster.
  • I also proved I am not one for rustic living. I need my television and daily doses of pop culture.
  • While in Massachusetts I saw a great Billy Baldwin look-a-like.
It should also be noted that my first experience flying in a plane went well. Our flight out was canceled though, but other than that there weren't any glitches. I even carried on all my luggage (quite the effort) so that my lost luggage nightmares wouldn't be realized. Because our flight was canceled we all received one way tickets to places of our choice. You don't have to choose until you're reading to redeem, but I'm urging the family to choose the Bahamas. I'm strongly suggesting going to the Atlantis resort...like in the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie. (Remember that?)

This isn't really my idea of a good blog post but I wanted to check-in before a ton of time had passed. School is starting again on the 31st and I'm going to try my absolute hardest not to become an absent blogger once I get busy. Tomorrow I'm going to the school to try and iron out some wrinkles in my schedule. Hopefully all will turn out well! I also have to devote the rest of my week to finishing my summer reading, I guess time has really gotten away from me.

I'll still try and fit in Emmy watching time. Is there anyone you really want to see win? I love The Big Bang Theory and think Jim Parsons is genius so I want him to win, and I'm also rooting for any Glee related nominations.

This post really was just a random bunch of information I wanted to put out there, but I have an actual post planned for tomorrow!

Not Quite.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I can't believe I haven't posted in over a week, time really has escaped me. And I'm posting now to say that I will be absent a little longer. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow and I should be back to blogging by Monday the 23rd. I'm headed out to Maine for a few days, and then we're making a stop to visit family in Massachusetts on the way home. I most likely won't be in contact with a computer but I will be tweeting, so you can follow me on Twitter if you like!

It will be my first time flying so of course I entertained myself by buying lots of mini beauty items. I've also been loving two of my latest non-mini beauty purchases.

Those would be my new MAC MSF (mineralized skin finish) in By Candlelight and the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in 1999.

By Candlelight is a great pink-beige color that makes a really nice highlighter. I used it on my cheeks today and it gives a really perfect glow.

1999 is a dark plum eyeliner with a little gold sparkle. I wasn't so sure how I'd like the Urban Decay liners but just as I've liked all my other UD purchases, I love it.

And in case you're wondering, I'm totally lusting after the Urban Decay Naked palette for back to school. This is the secret, it comes with 12 shadows for $44. Which would be a good price for any high end palette. But what you might not realize is that the shadows are all full-sized and an individual UD shadow would run you $17.

Are there any beauty products you're loving or dieing to add to your collection?
