The Worst Death Of All.

It's nice being surrounded my fashion and fashion lovers. Although my game might need to be stepped up a little.

We've already been told all our projects for the year. Five of our projects are each based on a different country. Japan, China, France, Greece, and Egypt.

This weekend I'm going to try and practice my sketching skills. I'm supposed to do five quilt designs (we're starting personal quilts in March) for Monday. I'd also like to practice doing croquis though. I desperately need to become a better (and faster) artist.

I've been thinking about this program since eigth grade, it's hard to believe I just completed my first week!

As always, I'm planning to step up the blogging now. So, if there is anything you'd like to see, let me know. I'll be trying to incorporate more photos (I'll also devote my weekend to finding the camera's memory card) and get back to posting everyday. I'm always open to new ideas, so input and feedback are fabulous.

Let Me Know.

Here is a little update on my fashion program.

So far:
-I've created my first croqui (a fashion drawing). It was not what I expected to do right as I walked in the door. I'm not really much of an artist. But I guess mine could have turned out worse.
-I made a collage based on a quote about the American dream.
-I chose and presented five visuals that embody my style.

My impression of the program:
-I like that everyone there appreciates fashion, I immediately noticed that I received far more compliments on my shoes!
-There is an interesting mix of different styles in the program. However, there seem to be a lot of scarf wearers. (Me included.)
-It's way better than pre-calculus and biology.

And A Good Day Reigns.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've had a few technological difficulties lately, which is why I've been absent from twitter and never ended up giving my two-cents on Golden Globes fashion. (In case you're wondering, I loved Drew Barrymore's dress and Marion Cotillard's dress.) Technology still isn't quite working for me, but I've pulled it together enough to get you a post.

I'm sure I've been saying for months that blogging would be picking up and posts would get more interesting. Now, that time is finally (truely) here! Starting on Tuesday I'll be attending a fashion careers and textiles program. I'll be there 3/4 of the school day and then return to good old, boring school for my last class of the day. I'll be surrounded by fashion for the majority of the day (sure beats pre-calc), which equals a lot of great posting inspiration. I'm really excited (and you should be too.)

I don't have much to tell you all about it yet, since it has yet to really begin, but back to my first point. Technology. I seem to be griping about technology on here pretty frequently, so it must be a sign. I think my computer may be on it's way out, and a camera of my own wouldn't be so bad (imagine the possibilities!) Maybe I need to start looking into that summer job thing that my mother has been hinting about, until then, a girl can dream.

A Little Bit Fabulous.

Honestly, I don't follow runway as closely as I should. I appreciate looks here and there, but it's rare for me to really fall for an entire collection. However, when I came across the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2010 RTW collection on style.com, I fell in love. Frills and lace, ruffles and prints, tough shoes and killer necklaces. What's not to like?

To The Core.

This week marked my second week of taking a step class. My mom has been doing step for fifteen years, and I decided that in the new year it would be a good idea to join her. My (main) resolution this year was to get in shape (I also resolved to be a consistent blogger!) So, step class has been a good start. I'm going twice a week, and the only real issue has been what to wear. (Okay, I was a little fumbly at first, but things are going better, that wasn't a real issue.)

I've taken gym classes in school before, but of course they're is a gym uniform for that. I'm run on the treadmill in my basement before, but it doesn't really matter what I wear down there. I haven't been to a public gym since elementary school, and I had never taken a workout class before. Of course, the age old question of how fashion and practicality should mix for exercising arose.

I picked up a few things to start wearing, and I've taken a fairly simple approach to workout dressing. Lots of v-necks and tight black bottoms. How much fashion do you try to incorporate into exercise clothing? I may be in need of cute sweatbands and sparkly tennis shoes!

Better Find a Niche.

Pillows are some of my favorite things ever. They can instantly transform a bed, and in my opinion, really make a room. I'm always buying new pillows, and my bed is practically overflowing with them.

So, it seemed fitting that my first project with my new/old sewing machine should be making pillows. Fun and (hopefully) easy! I have a few pillows planned, and I got the supplies today. It isn't like I really need any more, but can you ever have too many? I'm thinking that I'll do an Audrey Hepburn pillow (we'll see how this goes) and two cute printed ones.

I'll be sure to share the results!

If you have any fun (easy) sewing projects or pillow ideas, share! I've made some basics (dress, pin cushion, tote bag, pajama pants), but I'm a little rusty.

Dripping In Metal.

I wish I could pile on jewelry like that. I'd happily kiss a giant silver skull in order to be able to.
