Catch This Wave.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've been tempted for a while, but I finally went ahead and created a tumblr! It isn't a replacement for this blog, and it doesn't mean there will be fewer posts here. The tumblr is more pop culture focused (lots of stuff about The Office and Beverly Hills 90210), so it won't be taking away from this blog.

Let me know if you have a tumblr, and I hope you'll follow me.

Have a great Saturday.

Put On Hold.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On Sunday (aka I should've posted this days ago) I went to Marshalls and bought a few things to spruce up my wardrobe. My best purchase was probably these flats. I really don't have enough flats, and these are so simple but have the perfect twist.

I also got a new scarf, another thing I can never have too many of. A cheetah print scarf seemed like such a necessity, plus this is my first circle scarf. It was a little tricky deciding how to wear it, but it already made a successful debut.

I did buy clothes as well, including my first part of jeggings (I'll let you know what I think), but I didn't want to take pictures of them just laying on my bed or sitting on a hanger. Maybe I'll start doing outfit posts again and that way you'll be able to see the new pieces.

The best/worst part about having just gone shopping is not being able to decide what to wear because there are just too many options! (It definitely beats not being able to decide because there aren't any options.)

Get Crafty With Me.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On Friday I went with a friend to The American Craft Council show that was being held in Baltimore. After leaving school we headed into the city and had an early dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. I had decided that I wanted to be one of those people who takes pictures of their food, but after taking this test shot I ended up forgetting to take a picture once the food actually came. When I realized I hadn't taken the photo about ten minutes into eating I decided that nobody wants to see my half-eaten buffalo wings (not even me.)

One we had had dinner we headed over the craft show. We spent a lot of time searching for the school to market section which turned out of be two sections, one for the Rhode Island School of Design and one for the Savannah School of Art and Design. The RISD section had some really interesting things on display. I believe the item pictured is some kind of furnishing, the kind nobody actually dares to sit in. But who needs to know what it actually is? It was neat looking.

They also had a few necklaces on display that were very pretty.
There were also a few mannequins in their section that were wearing statement necklaces. I particularly liked the first one which reminds me of a gold fish skeleton.

Once we had admired the school to market section we began looking around and searching for things to buy. I tried on a gorgeous ring before glancing at a price tag and realizing it was $900. The things being sold there were more expensive than I expected and I kept having to remind myself and my friend to stop looking at the booths were the jewelry was behind glass. Despite a lot of things being out of my price range, I didn't want to go home empty handed.

I was determined to buy something and that something turned out to be this mirror. The mirror's fun design is formed from recycled fibers, which meant that every mirror was different. That made it extra hard for me to choose which one I wanted to buy (I'm a very bad decision maker), but thankfully the lady who was selling them was very sweet and patient.

Later as we were walking through the show I spotted this sign and immediately the wheels in my head started turning.

Next I spotted this sign and I knew my thoughts had been confirmed. The person inside the booth was Ping from the current season of Project Runway.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The booth was devoted to her transformable accessories which included hats, gloves, scarves, and shawls. I thought the hats were particularly cute although I don't think I'd be able to rock them. Ping was there wearing her creations and showing people the different ways they could wear her scarves.

My friend really wanted a Ping creation and tried on a bunch of hats and scarves until deciding on a transformable scarf.

Personally I was most attracted to the lace necklaces she also had on display, which didn't seem to be recieving as much attention as the other accessories. The necklaces definitely drew me in, but they were more than I was ready to spend and I wasn't quite sure how often I'd have the chance to wear one in my daily life.

Ping happily posed for pictures (and I happily took quite a few) and really seemed to be just like she was on Project Runway. She was adorable in person and so was her outfit. It wasn't something I'd ever be able to pull off but she had on a cardigan backwards as her top, a pair of great boots and a jealousy-creating ring. If you're wondering why I only took a picture of her and not with her, I did take one with her but as luck has it, it's a terrible photo of me.

After leaving the show with sore feet and tweeting about my experiences, we decided to make one last stop at Urban Outfitters. I've scoured the website before but had never been inside one of their stores or made a purchase from the site. Now I officially I understand why people are so fond of UO.

We didn't have the time, and I would've probably been too tired to do any serious shopping, but I wanted to make a few little purchases. I bought two nail polishes, one is a perfect pink and the other a really dark blue-green shade. I also got a cute notebook because you can never have too many. There were a few other things that tempted me but I ended up deciding that I'd just have to go back to UO another time.

That's all for my Friday, how did you spend yours?

The Paris Object.

I just finished doing an interior designer project on Alvar Aalto (just in time to catch an episode of The Nanny.) Now I'm in desperate need of one of Aalto's Savoy vases. Isn't that just awesome?

Things I Can't Live Without This Week.

Whattaya Want From Me - Adam Lambert
I was planning out my Things I Can't Live Without This Week and trying to decide whether I should include this Adam Lambert song, I was a little torn as an extreme Kris Allen fan, when I realized I had never declared my love for him on this blog (and not even on my old one.) So, here it is. I love Kris Allen. He is a total cutie, and that is really the only way to put it. Anyway, I've been listening to his album for a while now, which is why this isn't really about him. After rooting for Kris all season on American Idol, I feel a little like a trader loving something off of Adam's album. But, that hasn't stopped me from playing the song on repeat, which means it deserved a mention. Pink helped to write the song, and it doesn't have all the wailing that Adam's AI performances did.

Jobs
I've never had a job before, other than babysitting. It isn't that I've never wanted one, but rather there aren't very many good job opportunities for a sixteen year old around here, and it's always seemed a little impractical to have a job before I can drive. However, I'll be getting my license in May, which means car insurance. This week someone in my Textiles program mentioned they were applying to Marshalls and I knew I had to get an application as well. It wasn't some place I had ever considered because I had assumed you had to be eighteen, but now I realize it would be the perfect place. I also got an application for Claires (retail jobs are limited, and a discount on body glitter sounds useful, doesn't it?) I'm applying to Marshalls and Claires first, but I am also considering applying at the gym around here to work in their childcare center/kid's room. I've never filled out a job application before, so wish me luck!

Bobby Pins
I recently started wearing bobby pins a lot when my bangs started to grow out and became unruly. Now my bangs have been cut, but I'm still loving bobby pins. They're a quick hair fix and don't have the bulk of barrettes and other hair clips. I got these cute ones from Forever21 last week and can't wait to wear them. I need to start wearing more hair accessories!

Post-its
I love post-its. They come in so many colors and for some reason I just find them very fun. I have quite the growing collection and they really are useful; I am always jotting down quick notes about TV shows I want to check out, blog post ideas, beauty products I hear about, etc. Post-its are perfect for that. Plus, wouldn't a post-it room be pretty cool?

Delays
There was a crazy amount of snow two weeks ago and we were out of school for an entire week, plus we already had two days off this week, and for some reason they gave us two hour delays for the three days of school we did have to attend. And I'd like to tell you, I find two hour delays really enjoyable. It's so great being able to wake up at eight and take my time getting ready. I feel a little cheerier and my makeup is certainly always a little better.

OPI's Hey! Get In Lime!
A few weeks ago I was getting a manicure and I was hoping to find a color that was similar to Essie's Mint Candy Apple (the salon doesn't carry Essie polishes.) I ended up choosing this OPI shade, which was a lot more like Chanel's Jade polish than the Essie one, but I loved it all the same. I got countless compliments on the color and have enjoyed the rest of my polishes a little less since then. I'm definitely going to have to buy this one. Any other OPI suggestions? Ulta usually has great OPI sales, so I'll probably want to buy more than one.

Color Splash
I don't know whether I've ever mentioned this, but up until last spring my family never had cable or satellite, we had always just had the public stations. It never stopped me from being a TV addict, but since getting satellite I have added quite a few shows to my must-see list. One of my favorites is Color Splash on HGTV. I watch it most days after school, and I'm always impressed. The host, David Bromstad is basically a genius. The rooms are always beautiful and even if they aren't my style, there hasn't been one I haven't liked. A lot of HGTV shows are similar, but one of the most unique things about the show is that David creates a piece of art for each of the rooms he designs. Anyway, I could talk about my love for Color Splash for quite a while, but the point is that it's awesome and you need to watch.

Breaked Out.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I picked up this pattern last week for a future school project. I probably won't get around to making it for a while, but I'm pretty excited about it. You can be sure you'll know how it turns out.

This post is just a tiny update because today is my last day before we go back to school after all of the snow, which means I have a lot of homework that I've procrastinated doing.
