In Due Time.

I went to the mall today with a friend, I didn't want to spend a ton of money, but I had to make a few purchases. I bought a polish from OPI's new Alice In Wonderland collection. It's called Mad As A Hatter and is awesome. It's all glitter, of course the picture doesn't do it justice. (This one is a little better.)

I was hoping to find China Glaze's For Audrey, the perfect Tiffany blue, but it was nowhere to be found. I'm still on the lookout though, it's going to be the perfect spring color.

I also got a tank from the Gap. (The color isn't on the website, but it's a really nice jewel tone purple.) I looked at a lot of makeup and held back from purchasing a lot of things, but I did buy a new Two Faced Shadow Insurance, my last one lasted me forever, but I really did need another.

I can't believe my weekend is already half gone, but at least I spent a good portion of it at the mall. Tomorrow is dedicated to my sewing project (Greek outfit) and watching Funny Face.

Eternally Grateful.

One of the things I've come to enjoy the most about being in a fashion class is that I've found that being around lots of fashion lovers is a great push to look just a little bit better each day. That doesn't mean I was wearing Uggs and sweatpants prior to starting the class (I wasn't), but I do find myself putting in more effort knowing that the people who will be seeing me will appreciate it more.

It also gives me the push to be a little more adventurous. As much as I approve of the no rules in fashion philosophy, it doesn't come extremely easy to me to experiment with mixing patterns or nontraditional color combinations. I've always tried to branch myself out, but since starting the fashion program I definitely notice that I've been trying more creative outfits with pieces I already have. It's a lot easier to take those risks with people who are more likely to understand (more likely in comparison to the typical high school student.)

Today I wore a pair of floral tights and a pair of a flats with studs on the front (I posted them in my post about Marshalls last week) with a cardigan that didn't quite go and I got a lot of compliments.

I learned a while ago that every outfit will never be successful, but that taking risks and playing with what you like is always worth it. Plus, over time as you've played with the boundaries and the rules a little, you'll have fewer unsuccessful days and more days that feel like pure fashion success.

Mom Said To Stop.

I've been hoping to expand on my Audrey Hepburn collection, so I was very excited to find Funny Face for sale at Big Lots, for just three dollars. You can't beat that!

I probably won't have the chance to watch the film until next weekend, but I can't wait.

I hope it'll live up to my expectations. But with Audrey Hepburn as the lead and Hubert de Givenchy responsible for the costumes, what's not to like?

Join The Party.

I thought I'd introduce you to a few television shows that you might not have seen before, but deserve a lot of attention. Fashion and television are two things I love, and I'd hate to see you deprived of either.

Beverly Hills 90210
You really just can't beat the original teen soap. There is lots of drama, and great nineties fashion to revisit. Don't be confused or held back by the new show (known as simply 90210), the original is only a million times better. Plus, if you start watching, we can discuss where we stand on the Brenda-Dylan-Kelly love triangle. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Veronica Mars
A show that successfully carries out a season long mystery and is full of wit and suspense. It's about Veronica, a high school student whose best friend was murdered and who helps her father with his detective business. It has the perfect mix of teen drama, mystery, and comedy. Joss Whedon, Stephen King and Kevin Smith all count themselves as fans. The shows first season is a clear standout, but the second and third aren't to be overlooked.

The Big Bang Theory
This is the only show I'm telling you about that is still airing new episodes, and is one of the best shows on television. The show is about a group of geeks and their hot neighbor, but the real genius of the show is Sheldon. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is hilarious.

There isn't much more that needs to be said for these shows. I didn't think I needed to go into tons of detail, they're all great and what more do you really need to know?

*Episodes of Beverly Hills 90210 air on SoapNet everyday, and the first nine (of 10) seasons are available on DVD. All three seasons of Veronica Mars are available on DVD. Big Bang Theory's third season is currently airing on CBS. It's on at 9:30 PM on Mondays, after Two and a Half Men. You can find episodes of all three shows online. I recommend surfthechannel.com as well as the CBS website.

Roaming The Halls.

The first outfit we're making in my fashion class is inspired by Greece. I haven't finished anything worthy of a photo just yet, but I thought I'd share my inspiration board.

We're using store bought patterns for our first two outfit so that everyone has a chance to get used to the process first. We are allowed, however, to alter the patterns as we see fit. I chose this pattern and decided to do look D. I am making a few changes, but I'll wait to share those. I'm working on the muslin at the moment, and should be done by the end of this week.

Pictures will follow!

Edit: I posted this on a different computer than usual and now I see that on my screen the inspiration board is cut off on the end. How does it look for you guys? I'm not sure if I should re-size or not.

Catch This Wave.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I've been tempted for a while, but I finally went ahead and created a tumblr! It isn't a replacement for this blog, and it doesn't mean there will be fewer posts here. The tumblr is more pop culture focused (lots of stuff about The Office and Beverly Hills 90210), so it won't be taking away from this blog.

Let me know if you have a tumblr, and I hope you'll follow me.

Have a great Saturday.

Put On Hold.

On Sunday (aka I should've posted this days ago) I went to Marshalls and bought a few things to spruce up my wardrobe. My best purchase was probably these flats. I really don't have enough flats, and these are so simple but have the perfect twist.

I also got a new scarf, another thing I can never have too many of. A cheetah print scarf seemed like such a necessity, plus this is my first circle scarf. It was a little tricky deciding how to wear it, but it already made a successful debut.

I did buy clothes as well, including my first part of jeggings (I'll let you know what I think), but I didn't want to take pictures of them just laying on my bed or sitting on a hanger. Maybe I'll start doing outfit posts again and that way you'll be able to see the new pieces.

The best/worst part about having just gone shopping is not being able to decide what to wear because there are just too many options! (It definitely beats not being able to decide because there aren't any options.)
