Isn't It Romantic?

Here is the last dress I made! This is the one that I said was supposed to be inspired by France. Just a few weeks ago it was just a pile of fabric on our dining room table.

I was really pleased with how this one turned out, although I think it looks better in person than in these photos. (And my legs really aren't that red.)

Also, I know I just got a new camera and I should be posting amazing quality photos, but I took a picture of the photo they printed off for us at school. Next time I'll bring my camera to school.

Anyway, I have a few good posts for the next couple days, so look out for those. Plus, it's my goal for May to post everyday, even if it is just something small. I don't know how that will go though because May is my busiest month. (SATs, AP test, lots of fashion projects, etc.)

We'll Always Have Paris.

My dress (inspired by France) was due today, so I thought I'd share a little piece of my inspiration. I was inspired a lot by Chanel, particularly the elegance of their black and white pieces. I also was really inspired by this quote,
"Only great minds can afford a simple style."
Pictures of the dress will be up by the end of the week at the latest!

That Day Has Come.

Something very exciting happened today. My House of Harlow 1960 Sunburst necklace finally arrived.

I've been waiting for it to arrive before I made this post. The necklace was supposed to be a Christmas present, as I mentioned a long time ago. The order for the necklace was placed on December 12th, and it just arrived today, more than 4 months later.

The website the necklace was ordered from was The Hip Chick, a site I've never dealt with before.

I contacted Hip Chick multiple times to make sure the necklace was really coming, but they only contacted me in response to my calls and emails. They never called to assure me it was still coming unless I called first. On March 5th they did contact me to say that they were just going to be receiving a shipment of the Sunburst necklaces in on March 15th. I was told to expect the necklace by the end of March, but clearly that isn't what happened.

If the necklace had come in January I wouldn't have made this post. But four months is just too extreme, especially when it was ordered around holiday time. As happy as I am to receive my necklace, and I still had a great Christmas, it's a lot different getting it in April.

Hip Chick told me the cause behind all of this was that House of Harlow was having problems with their manufacturers and it was taking longer to complete their orders than expected. (I wasn't made aware that there weren't any necklaces in stock until I contacted them.)

In conclusion, I expect Nicole Richie to come and meet me to make up for this.

Anyway, as frustrating as it was waiting for the necklace to come and having to worry that maybe it had been ordered from an unreliable website, I couldn't be happier that it came. The chain is longer than I expected, but it is perfect. I can't wait to wear it tomorrow and as soon as my mom let me know it had arrived I started planning outfits out in my mind. Here are more pictures!

Don't Feel Excluded.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
They're having great sales on fabric and patterns at Joann's right now, so I stocked up this weekend. I needed to get started on one dress, and ended up buying fabric for two other projects while I was there. I got fabric for my France dress, a summer dress, and a quilt. I'm going to wait to specify exactly which fabrics are for which project because I thought it would be more fun to see everything come together.

Only A Little.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I haven't had a ton of exciting things to take pictures of just yet, but I thought I'd share a few photos. First off, here is my Easter basket. Its contents are long gone by now, but it was nice while it lasted!

This is an exciting photo of my foot and hand. These are the polishes I wore on Easter. The color on my nails is Plum Seduction from Revlon and the one on my toes is My Chihuahua Bites! from OPI.

Here is my dog. I tried to get him to model for me, but I guess all the episodes of Top Model have not paid off. He kept looking away (in this photo he is yawning) or jumping up.

Here is a picture of my turtle, Franklin. He was a very obedient model and came up to see the camera.

I don't know if you're aware but I've been on a long and tiring search for a specific nail polish. I really needed to own
China Glaze's For Audrey. Eventually I found out they carry it at Sally's Beauty Supply and made it my next destination. The polishes were on sale for buy two get one free so I got For Audrey, Spontaneous, and Tree Hugger (names match the order of the polishes in the photo.)

Lastly, here are my other purchases from Sally's. I got a face scrub, a champagne eyeshadow, and two loose glitters.

That is all! Have fabulous Fridays.

In Conclusion.

Here are the pictures of my finished dress. I didn't adjust the mannequin for these photos so it looks a little odd and personally I thought it looked cuter on me, but I think this gives you the idea. (In case you're wondering, I took these photos last week so they're just on my phone, not on the new camera.)

Left is the headband I made for the outfit, and right is a better look at the button on the sleeve.

This is the bracelet I made for the outfit. It might be a little difficult to tell with the light reflections, but they're supposed to be like Greek coins. (The nail polish I'm wearing is Mad As A Hatter from OPI, and is truly more amazing that anyone could imagine!)

As Much As I Make Believe.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Yesterday I was doing a little shopping (hoping to find a nail polish that I was desperately...with no luck), and ended up getting a new camera. If you've read a lot of my posts, I've mentioned before I've been borrowing my dad's camera and that a new camera was on my technology wish list. I ended up buying the Nikon CoolPix S570, it was a bit of a touch decision because I'm a horrible decision maker, but I think I'll be very pleased.

Anyway, a new camera means you can expect a lot more pictures on Instinct because I won't have to track down my dad's camera every time I want to show you guys something.

It's Easter today, and I was planning to show you photos of my finished Greek dress and tell you about my next project (a dress inspired by France, it's going to be awesome.) But I'm going to hold out on that post for another day or too and just share a few things with you guys.

I realized a while ago that I had never posted about how much I love Kris Allen, so I'm sneaking him into this post as well. I rooted for him all of last season, and still get excited every time I hear him on the radio or his Ford ad comes on. The video (above) is just an awesome fan video, but if you're looking for a Kris song to listen to I suggest Can't Stay Away or his performance (to benefit Haiti) of Let It Be. You can practically hear the cuteness in his voice, am I right? If you're curious, this season I'm rooting for Lee Dewyze. I suggest listening to his rendition of Beast Of Burden.

Now, while I'm providing you with lots of music, I'll put this in too. This song is kind of surprisingly really good.

Now that you know a few of the things I'm listening to, here is what I've been wearing. I bought these sunglasses on Friday for only $5.50 from Forever21. They're really the perfect shape for my face and it was probably the best $5.50 I've ever spent. I know they won't last me forever, but sunglasses aren't something I look for longevity in because they just end up getting scratched in your purse or falling off at the water park.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Easter, or if you aren't celebrating, a fabulous Sunday. I'll be spending the day with family, and hopefully taking lots of photos. I'll probably post a few tomorrow.
