I started blogging as a freshman in high school. My posts have followed every fashion career aspiration that has popped into my head, I really do like to plan and daydream about the future. There is always excitement ahead of you, why not? I've been blogging all four years of high school (no matter how sporadic some months have been) and this year my posts have included more and more about college. I've expressed numerous times that my first choice would be to attend The Fashion Institute of Technology.
I finished my application in December and have been anxiously awaiting a response ever since. I heard back from all the other schools that I applied to and was seriously ready to start being able to make my plans.
This past Monday FIT posted on their facebook page that they were starting to send out acceptances. I spent everyday racing home to check the mail. On Wednesday I opened the mail to find one giant envelope...from another school.
Finally, Friday arrived. Surprisingly I hadn't thought about rushing home to get the mail until I got into my car after school. I remembered and I took my getting-the-mail route home from school. I got out of the car to grab the mail and I first spotted a giant envelope. I was excited once again until I realized it was from another school (again.) I pulled the rest of the mail out and sat it in my lap. I was starting to drive the rest of the way to my house, when the mail shifted a bit in my lap and I spotted an envelope in my lap with the FIT logo in the corner.
I pulled into my driveway and quickly turned the car off. The letter couldn't have been any thinner but I haven't been anything but confident about getting in this whole time, so I eagerly ripped it open.

I honestly could not have been any more excited when I saw that I was accepted. I was happy about getting into the other schools I applied, but those definitely didn't compare. There was lots of screaming and jumping around as I shared the news with everyone I could think of (mom, best friend, facebook friends, twitter followers, tumblr followers, etc.)
I actually can't believe it took my this long to get the news to everyone who reads my blog. Thankfully it wasn't too delayed, I scrapped what I was planning to post about so that I could let everyone share in my excitement.
It is incredibly hard to believe that in a few months I'll be living in Manhattan. I visited the campus for an open house in late October, but I'll be attending an Admitted Students Day on either April 9th or 10th. I can't wait to see everything with a new mindset (that I'll actually be attending next fall.)
Thanks for reading my drawn out story, I figured it was the best way to share the news since it has been replaying in my head the past two days. I wish you all the excitement of your wishes coming true!
