Rainbow Antithesis.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
At first glance my nails might all look the same, but look a little closer. They're all actually slightly different colors, some a little more similar than others.

If you read a lot of my blog posts, you'll know I love nail polish. And I shameless buy a lot of it. So, I always find it interesting to see when I start to have a few colors that are really similar.

I thought it would be a fun post to share one of my favorite nail polish shades for summer, and give a few different options.

First of all, I'll tell you which nail has which polish. The one on my pinky nail is Petites Passion Orange (available at drug stores, I got mine at Walmart, it's really cheap). The one on my ring finger is from Sephora and it's called Passion. You don't get very much product in the bottle, but it costs $5 which isn't too bad. The one on my ring finger is OPI's My Chihuahua Bites, and the one on my pointer finger is Essie's Fearless.

I applied two coats of all the polishes. They all look pretty opaque, but I'd say that the Petites polish is the least opaque. They all went on easily and I didn't have a problem with any of them being streaky. I like the brush from the OPI polish the best, but I don't have a problem painting my nails with any of the other brushes.

As far as differences in the colors go, Passion and My Chihuahua Bites are more red, while Passion Orange is much more orange (obviously). Fearless is kind of inbetween the two and seems brighter.

Passion and My Chihuahua Bites are a pretty dead-on dupe, but all the colors are perfect for summer. In conclusion, get yourself a great bright coral/red/orange polish for summer! Any of these would be great options. My favorite is probably My Chihuahua Bites, but you should consider these few things. How often will you use it? (Not often, get a cheap one, you'll just use it once or twice in the summer anyway. If you'll use it all the time, invest in an OPI or Essie.) How many coats do you want to do? (You can get away with 2 coats on at of these polishes, but if you want it perfectly opaque you'd need an extra coat of Petites Passion Orange.) And finally, what tone do you like better, red or orange?

I hope this was helpful! Let me know if you'd want to see similar posts in the future, or if there are any other nail polish related posts you would like to see.

To Save The World.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
This is probably my busiest and most stressful week of the year, but I wanted to share a few things with you. As I mentioned in a previous post I'm working on a quilt as a school project. So far I've got the squares sewn together, and there will definitely be a photo when I've finished, but I thought I'd share a photo of two of the fabrics I'm using as a bit of a sneak peek.

I also wanted to share a few recent purchases. I got this set of four mini Essie polishes on sale at Marshalls. From left to right the polishes are: Billionails, Turning Heads Reds, Fearless, and Funky Limelight. Funky Limelight is a really intense highlighter yellow that I can't wait to try out. Fearless is also really pretty, I have it on my toes right now.

I also recently bought these sandals. They were on sale for $14.99 and I was in need of a pair of white sandals. I think I'll end up getting a lot of use out of these.

I got a new tank top too, because you can never have too many. I love that this one has a pocket towards the bottom.

I also got a new pair of shorts. It turns out it is quite a struggle finding jean shorts that aren't incredibly short, but thankfully i was able to find at least one pair. I hope to live mostly in dresses this summer, but jean shorts will be a welcome addition as well.

Lastly, I got this floral bracelet. I'm definitely feeling florals at the moment. I just can't resist, they're so feminine and yet at the same time they're so awesomely 90s. Oh, and the bracelet was on super sale at Boscovs for $2.99.

(PS, I know it has been a few days longer for this post to be put up than it should've been. I typed all the information on Tuesday but kept having technical difficulties with the photos!)

Blink And You'll Miss It.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I had a "real" post planned for today but my photos weren't uploading to my computer correctly. Hopefully I'll get them to work tomorrow, but I didn't want to go too long without posting. So, I thought I'd provide you with an amazing photo as a distraction.

I hope everyone's weeks are off to a good start! This is another busy one for me, but summer is definitely creeping up on us.

In case the picture wasn't quite enough to tide you over, here is song I wanted to share. (Another Tyler Hilton one, I couldn't resist, I'm just obsessed.)

What Is My Demise.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was thinking about fashion crimes today and decided it would be a good bonding experience for us all to share those moments that we look back on and are horrified by.

Here is mine: In fifth grade I was really obsessed with this brand that made shirts with inspirational sayings on them for girls. They said things like, "Failure is not an option." (I actually still have a few that are tucked away with the clothes I'll never wear but won't throw away, and if I remember I'll maybe update the post with them.) Anyway, I had a few, and I used to wear them all the time. There was definitely a period where they were basically all I'd ever wear. I've blocked it out a little, but I feel like I was probably wearing some of the shirts more than once a week. I can't imagine why, since I certainly had other clothes, other than I guess I thought they were terribly cool.

I haven't had such an ongoing fashion crime since them. So, would your biggest crime of fashion be?

We Can Stand Together.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I'm working on an outfit inspired by China at the moment.

On another note, I was doing pretty well with posting for May, but now I'm getting busier and busier. I have a quilt to make, a historical fashion final, and a huge independent reading project to do before school wraps up.

Hopefully I can still keep up with blogging at least somewhat until the end of the school year, and then I hope that posting will get back to how it was last summer.

I just realized that it's 9:30 and I still need to shower, so this is just a little check in kind of post.

Think Friday!

Degree Of Shades.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I realized that I haven't posted pictures of my nail polish in a while, which used to be what I'd about all the time. So, I thought my nails this week were the perfect ones to share. I've had the polish on for just a day and I've gotten countless compliments.

I'm wearing OPI's Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees with Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure on top.

The problem with the many photos that I took was that the Hidden Treasure is extremely reflective, so I thought I'd also share some swatches from a nail polish blog. Hidden Treasure is what they call a 'flaky' polish which has these little light reflective flakes. In the swatch of Hidden Treasure it's shown over a black Sally Hansen polish, but I also posted the Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees swatch (left) to give you a slightly better idea. Also, the swatch of Hidden Treasure (right) shows it applied more sparsely than I used it, but it gives you an idea.

And here are the polishes in their bottles. The Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure is supposed to be hard to find, so if you're interested you might have to really seek it out. I found mine at a Super Walmart, but I know the normal Walmart here doesn't have it.

Also, I wore the Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure over a dark color, which is what I've found works best. However, it's fun to test it over your favorite polishes. It looks nice over light colors but it's just less noticeable. Next time I'm planning to try it over OPI's Who The Shrek Are You?

I hope these pictures helped give you an idea, despite my photo failure! I knew this was a polish combination I had to share, it creates the coolest foiled look.

PS: Tell me what you thought of the Gossip Girl finale!

Moment Of Excellence.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
On Friday I had an important experience, I went to my first concert. It was The Spill Canvas and special guests. (My ticket has already scored a sought after spot on my bulletin board.) But most importantly, Tyler Hilton was going to be playing. I've mentioned Tyler Hilton in posts in the past (almost as many times as I've mentioned Beverly Hills 90210, so you know it's love.) If you aren't yet acquainted with him though: he played Chris Keller on One Tree Hill, Elvis in Walk The Line, and Murphy in Charlie Bartlett. (If you still don't know who he is, and really you should do this either way, go look at his youtube channel.)

So, pretty much I was very excited for this concert. Me and my friend made shirts to wear to the concert. We put studs on them, put a lyric from one of his songs, etc. They turned out pretty well!

Anyway, we arrived at 6 and nobody actually started playing until 7. When we first walked in I looked at the merchandise table for a few moments but then my friend told me we should get a spot then before more people showed up. Anyway, I started to think about what merch to buy. I ended up tweeting about it and said:

A few minutes later I saw that Tyler had actually retweeted me and said:

It was a good start to the night. After much waiting, and what were probably two pretty good bands but that weren't really the kind of music I enjoy, it was finally time for Tyler. I took a bunch of pictures, but for some reason my camera was being stupid. My pictures kept turning out extremely blurry. I'm not really sure why, I know it's a nice enough camera that they shouldn't have turned out like that, but I didn't want to miss anything by messing with the settings. I tried to salvage some of them a little with a tiny bit of editing.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Tyler's set was really good, probably even better than I expected (which was a lot.) He took a picture of the crowd for twitter, and filmed everyone singing a line of I Believe In You for a music video he's making. He sang: 16th Summer, Missing You, Ain't A Thing, This World Will Turn Your Way, Sunset Blvd., When It Comes, You'll Ask For Me, I Believe In You, and Kiss On.

About half way through his last song, Kiss On, me and my friend pushed out of the crowd so that we could get to the merchandise table where Tyler was going to meet fans. We were probably only 4th in line to meet him. I ended up buying a t-shirt and a poster (of course!) When he came back to the table the line was a lot longer (and seemed to consistently stay pretty long), and there was a lot of screaming for a few seconds. I got him to sign the shirt that we made, the shirt I bought, and my poster. He was really nice and asked about our shirts.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I took a picture with him, of course I looked dreadful in it (hence the blacked out head.)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
After meeting Tyler my friend took a photo with the lead singer from one of the other bands, AM Taxi and then we headed out. Towards the door there were promotional posters for bands that were going to be playing, and there was a Tyler Hilton poster that I definitely felt like I needed. So, we asked if we could take them and the staff said sure, so we took them down.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the poster was double-sided.

So, all I can say is: very successful first concert, and now I just can't wait til he goes on tour again.
